AMTSO Update 2026-03-12

Welcome to our regular roundup of events and activities in and around AMTSO.

Meetings and Events
We will be holding a special event next week, “AI Agent Security Fireside Chat” – join AMTSO President Stefan Dumitrascu and special guest panelists to look into the growing crisis surrounding AI Agent Security in a focused online session. Find more details on the event page, and signup via Lumo.

We expect to release more info on our 2026 Cyber Research Conference shortly, with a first batch of talk topics selected early – the Call for Papers is open until the end of April, so be sure to submit your proposals in time!

We will also be pushing out the agenda shortly for the next Testing Town Hall event, on April 8th. The event will include updates from several of our ongoing projects which are reaching major milestones.

Membership
Today we announced our newest member, Google. We look forward to working closely with them, particularly the Virustotal team. We have several other new members finalizing the onboarding process and expected to become part of our community in the next few weeks. Anyone interested in becoming an AMTSO member can find more information on our joining page.

Working Groups
Our Scam & Phishing group held a call this week to review the draft of their guidance paper, we expect to finalize this after the next team call in two weeks’ time and share it for wider review and feedback. Proposed major expansions to our RTTL threat-intel sharing system are at a similar stage, and both will be discussed on the next Testing Town Hall. Trials continue for our multiscanning inclusion criteria project, with final shaping of the proposed process due to be completed once feedback from the trials is in. Our Sandbox evaluation group is looking at proposals to build benchmarking samples to exercise the anti-evasion features covered in our evaluation framework. Our event planning team is reviewing the technical setup for our Brussels event, and working to get public registration opened shortly – members can already sign up to attend via the AMTSO member site.

AMTSO Standard and Test Calendar
Recent additions to our Test Calendar include the final 2025 report from MRG Effitas, covering Windows products, the first of 2026 from AppEsteem looking at unwanted software handling, and Android results from AV-Test. Coming soon we expect to see AV-Test‘s first Windows data for 2026, a scam & phishing test from Artifact Security, and a new test on zero-day handling from Venak Security. Here’s a summary of recent activities from our Standard compliance team:

Phase 1 Commentary on each of these tests remains open.
  • Phase 2 Commentary Collection is now underway covering the MRG-Effitas Q4’2025 360-Degree Endpoint Assessment and Certification Test Report (AMTSO-LS1-TP176). Collection will be open through Friday, March 13th, 2026.

Board and Management
All AMTSO members should have received details of our upcoming Board elections, with candidate nominations now open and a deadline of April 20th. Half of our Board is elected from within the membership each year, with two positions voted in by tester members and two by non-tester members. Voting will be run in May and members will have a chance to hear from and question the candidates at an online member meeting in mid-May.
