If you click on this link to the Potentially Unwanted Application ‘test’ file, your system will attempt to download a simulated Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA). This file is NOT actually malicious, but by an industry wide agreement this file is detected as if it were malicious when the option to Block Potentially Unwanted Applications is enabled. This is done so that people may verify that their Anti-Malware product’s Potentially Unwanted Applications settings are configured correctly. (N.B., some products refer to this type of threat by a slightly different name such as Possibly Unwanted Program.)

If you are able to download this file successfully, your Anti-Malware solution is NOT configured correctly to detect Potentially Unwanted Applications, or does not conform to industry best practice.

If your vendor’s name appears below, your Anti-Malware product does support this Feature Settings Check page. If your system nevertheless failed the test, click on the name of the vendor for instructions explaining how to enable the feature in your product.
