AMTSO Scam and Phishing Testing Guidelines – preprint draft for public review

AMTSO’s Scam & Phishing Working Group has produced a guideline paper providing advice and information on how protections against online scams and phishing attacks can be tested and rated. The product of collaboration between multiple AMTSO members including independent test labs already working on tests in this area, the document aims to ensure testing is fair and unbiased, while providing valuable guidance to end-users on the quality of protections made available by solutions in the market space.

The guideline draft is being made available for review by AMTSO members and the wider public. An initial consultation period will run through the end of April 2026, at which point any comments received will be reviewed by the working group and actioned as appropriate. Following any required updates, the final draft will go forward to the AMTSO membership for formal adoption processes.

Participation in our Scam & Phishing Working Group is open to all AMTSO members, and non-members active in the space are welcome to provide their feedback on the groups activities and plans (please contact us via info@amtso.org) – such non-members are encouraged to join AMTSO to become more involved with the evolution of testing in the industry, but may also be invited to attend one-off meetings of the Working Group to provide further feedback.

Any comments on the draft should be sent to info@amtso.org, ahead of the April 30th cutoff of this initial review period.
