Welcome to our regular roundup of events and activities in and around AMTSO.
Meetings and Events
Last week we published a preliminary agenda for our Cyber Research Conference in Brussels, featuring a range of member and guest presentations as well as discussion on AMTSO’s projects and recent publications. Registration for non-members is also now available (members can register via the member site), full details of the event can be found on the event page.
We have also issued invites for our next Testing Town Hall event being held next week. This month’s call will focus on the various AMTSO papers and other projects reaching major milestones this month, including our Agentic AI security testing guidelines and updates to our Sandbox Evaluation Framework, both completing public review at the start of next week; a proposed new paper on “App Promises”, which has been open for member comment and is now ready for public feedback; and our new “Multiscanner Engine Quality Certification” scheme, now going live. Working Groups
As noted above, the review period for our latest guideline releases will come to an end next week, on July 20th – any feedback received on the Agentic AI and Sandbox papers will be discussed on next week’s Testing Town Hall and reviewed further by the relevant working groups before each is put forward for formal adoption. The AI team met this week, looking at work done by one of the group’s members on LLM testing. Our Multiscanner Engine Quality team also held a call this week, putting the final touches to the project as it prepares for full go-live, and our RTTL working group met last week to check in on progress with the current and planned new systems.
Also last week were meetings of the Sandbox group, checking in on feedback so far on the proposed updates covering LLM handling within sandboxes, and also reviewing progress on a public sandbox test which was nearing completion (now live – see tests section below). Our event planning team held a call in the wake of the publication of their initial agenda, reviewing next steps in preparing for Brussels in October.
Board and Management
We held our first official Board call with our new Board on July 7th, the call focused on the proposed guideline paper on “app promises” currently being reviewed by members and due for public feedback phase shortly. Event plans, finances, and technical issues were also covered. The Board will hold an in-person meeting during our Brussels event in October.
AMTSO Standard and Test Calendar
Our Test Calendar continues to await a backlog of overdue tests, which we expect to emerge in the next few weeks as we approach vacation season in many regions. The most notable recent release was the first public evaluation of sandbox solutions from Venak Security, using the AMTSO Sandbox Evaluation Framework to steer the test design. Here’s a summary of recent activities from our Standard compliance team:
- A Compliance Report was issued covering AV-TEST’s May 2026 Test Report on Android Antivirus Applications (AMTSO Test ID: AMTSO-LS1-TP184) on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026
- A Public Test Notification was issued by Virus Bulletin (VB) for their upcoming Q3’2026 VBSpam Test (AMTSO Test ID: AMTSO-LS1-TP207) on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026.
- A Public Test Notification was issued by SE Labs for their Q3 2026 Endpoint Protection Test (AMTSO Test ID: AMTSO-LS1-TP208) on Monday, July 13th, 2026.
- Phase 2 Commentary Collection covering the Venak Security Q2 2026 Sandbox Evaluation Test Report (AMTSO Test ID: AMTSO-LS1-TP204) will close on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026.
