AMTSO Update 2025-09-11

Welcome to our regular roundup of events and activities in and around AMTSO.

Meetings and Events
Plans for our October “Cyber Research Conference” in Lisbon continue to advance, with many great speakers and presentation/discussion topics announced on the event page and more to come. We have arranged an extension of the hotel booking rate to September 18th for anyone yet to arrange their accommodation, and we request that anyone planning to attend register ASAP to secure your spot at the event. The CfP has also been further extended, to September 15th, and we will be posting a full agenda as soon as the final paper selections have been made.

Ahead of that, AMTSO will also be present at the VB2025 conference in Berlin. We look forward to catching up with many members, and meeting potential new participants in our community, at both events.

Further ahead, our next Testing Town Hall online event is planned for mid-November, we expect to post initial details soon.

Working Groups
Several of our Working Groups continued to meet over summer breaks to push ahead with their projects and plan out what to share with attendees in Lisbon.

Our “real-world” group met again this week, with representation from McAfee joining the lineup, and will be renamed to the “Scam & Phishing” group to clarify the focus of its activities. Debate this week included defining and separating the two categories of threat, as well as the differing requirements of consumers and businesses facing such threats.

Our Sandbox team met during August and again last week, working to engage more sandbox vendors to get their products tested under our framework and working on plans to build out a structure to assist with testing and present results.

Our RTTL threat intel project team also held a call last week, looking at updates to the process for granting non-members greater access to the system as well as plans for presentations and group meetups in Lisbon.

All our active groups will hold sessions and provide general updates during the event.
